Sam Goode from The Power of Six is human and is John Smith's best friend outside of the other Lorien orphans. His father, Malcolm, had been one of a few humans that had been tasked with the job of helping the Lorien children to assimilate on Earth. They were given transmitters that would tell them when a ship was near. Mr. Goode taught Sam about the aliens, although Sam was too young to understand it. Later, when things begin making sense to Sam, an avid follower of UFO conspiracy theories, he assumes his father's role in helping the Lorien children. When the others leave for West Virginia, he accompanies them. He also hopes that when they go after one of the Mogadorian's strongholds that he will find his father who's been missing for a decade or more .
