Number Four (aka John Smith) from The Power of Six is one of 9 (and later it is discovered...10) children sent to Earth from a planet that had been invaded (Lorien). Each child was gifted with great abilities that one day (it was hoped) would help them to regain their home planet from the invading forces from Mogadar. John lives most of his life on Earth with his Cepan, Henri, who dies in the first book. Many of his leadership skills come from recalling past experiences with Henri. He has a chimera named Bernie Kosar and he is in love with a human girl named Sarah Hart.
