Who comes knocking at the door and what does he want?

As they are talking someone knocks on the door; it is a boy looking for a doctor. The boy thinks the stranger is a doctor and insists that he come with him to help his sick mother. The man tries to say no, telling the boy he has to catch a boat. Finally the man is convinced and leaves with the boy.
