In the book "The Plague", what do you think Rambert means when he says, "That's not it. Before now, I always felt a stranger in this town..." What is the change that has take place in Rambert? (page 209)

In helping the victims, Rambert has become more than the journalist who came to report on the plague.... he's become a part of its solution. When he attempts to escape Oran, he is quickly and forcefully returned. The plague has isolated the town....no one gets in..... no one gets out. Thus Rambert decides to make the most of it and become involved helping. Consequently, he becomes a member of the community rather than a stranger in the community.
