How does Ellen find a way into Jack's cell after the monks lock him up for talking to Aliena?

Ellen used to visit Jack's father in this very cell during the 10 months when Jack Shareburg was imprisoned here. She shows Jack a loose stone slab in the floor that leads to the river below. If he can hold his breath long enough to walk upstream he can escape the priory.
