Who is the "Bore" in The Pigman by Paul Zindel?

Thte "Bore" is John's father, Mr. Conlan. Mr. Conlan works on Wall Street, and his life revolves around the ups and downs of the Coffee market. Mr. Conlan is often disappointed with his soon, worrrying about how he looks rather than who he is.

One thing Conlan did share with John was his love for alcohol. He not only allowed John to drink but encouraged it and bragged about it as well.
