What one thing does Kitty desire to do for Walter?

Kitty realizes that Walter will only be happy once he has forgiven her and consequently himself. She desires him to forgive her for his own sake, to give him peace of mind. She thinks that the forgiveness would allow his emotions to flow freely again and would liberate him from the constant resentment he feels for Kitty.
