What are Kitty's initial feelings towards the young orphan children and do her feelings change over time?

Upon first beginning her work in the convent Kitty feels a faint distaste for the orphan girls. Something about their appearance with stiff black hair and round yellow faces is very foreign to her. She is particularly uncomfortable around an orphan with a hydrocephalic head. However, overtime Kitty becomes accustomed to the children and as they delight in her and show her affection, she begins to really love them.
