Who is Jordan McAfee from The Pact and what is their importance?

Jordan McAfee is the lawyer that James hires to defend Chris. Jordan is middle aged, single and raising a thirteen-year-old boy of his own. Jordan never asks Chris if he killed Emily because Jordan strongly believes that the truth has no place in the courtroom. However, as the case continues Jordan finds himself unable to believe that Chris did not kill Emily. In court, Jordan decides to present a case of a suicide pact that went awry. The case appears to be going well until Gus takes the stand. Then suddenly Chris insists on taking the stand despite Jordan's insistence that he not. Chris gets on the stands and tells everyone that he shot Emily. Jordan believes his case to be lost then and is surprised when the jury returns a verdict of not guilty.
