Describe symbolism in The Pact by Jodi Picoult

One main symbol in the novel is the clothing Michael chooses for his daughter to be buried in. Michael has Emily dressed in clothing resembling those worn by a little girl.... which symbolizes how he sees her..... as his little girl.
