Why can't Ponyboy be trusted as a teenager?

Like all teenagers, Ponyboy thinks with his heart rather than his head. I would disagree, however, that he is untrustworthy. Ponyboy is a sensitive, intelligent, and loyal young man. I would have trusted him as a person.
