How does Sade change over the course of the novel, The Other Side of Truth?

In the beginning of the novel, Sade is a carefree young girl who enjoys school, books, and playing with her brother. However, she is forced to mature in order to take care of both herself and Femi in an unfamiliar and dangerous situation. Her mother's death leads Sade down the path of self-discovery and strengthening.

Throughout the novel, Sade morphs from a young girl who has not ever been wholly responsible for herself into a young girl who begins to take responsibility for herself, acting ingeniously in order to assure her father's safe release, directly influencing the trajectory of her own life and the life of her family.
