Denorah is Gabe’s daughter. He mother is a Blackfeet woman named Trina Trigo. Denorah lives with her mother and stepfather. They live on the reservation. Denorah does not have a very close relationship with Gabe. Denorah’s stepsister, Trace, is older than Denorah and is attending college on a basketball scholarship. Denorah is about 12 years old at the time of the main narrative, and she is already proving to be a talented basketball player. By chance, Denorah encounters the elk spirit soon after the spirit has caused Gabe and Cassidy’s deaths. Denorah flees, and her stepfather shoots the spirit to kill it. To stop the cycle of violence, Denorah shows compassion and respect to the dying elk spirit. This experience leads Denorah to realize that she should show such respect to all natives, regardless of their tribal ancestry.
