What happened in the Manor House the night Maude was expelled from the manor house?

The old man was heard yelling and swearing the night Maude was expelled from the house. The child was heard crying and after a silence the lord told his servants that Maude "had disgraced herself" (9) and he threw her out. Nearby Grace was seen smiling proudly that she had accomplished her goal.
