Fort Ticonderoga is the first major attack that included Arnold as a leader. The fort was located near Lake Champlain in the New York area. The fort again became important when Arnold was in charge of a naval battle on Lake Champlain. The British general was uncertain of the strength of the fort and chose not to attack based on Arnold's performance on the lake.
