What is the main conflict in The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe?

One major conflict in the story can be found in Dupin's hesitation to take the case. It isn't until Adolphe de Bon's arreat that Dupin finds himself obligated to work on the case and solve the murders.
