Liberia is one of the last countries mentioned in the book, but shows the power of women coming together for peace. It is here that Leymah Gbowee gained support of the Nigerian president and gathered thousands of other women to force the men in power to negotiate peace. Her willingness to stand up to leaders who had been unwilling to speak to each other was pivotal in ending the numerous civil wars in Liberia. This situation also showed Melinda how important it is for people to accept suffering without passing it on to other people, and thus stopping the endless cycle of wars.
