the people werent sure whether to keep the viel or to take it off. it suggust that the veil did have an affect on people becuase he wore it for a good part of his life and it is now a part of him.

They believe that they should leave the veil on, but later on they swear that they see him without it walking hand in hand with a girl's spirit. The veil continues to have an effect on the congregation in that they all consider what sort of 'veil' they wear (since the pastor had mentioned that they all had one).
