Why does Gregor's mother faint the day that Grete moves the furniture out of Gregor's room in The Metamorphosis?

Gregor's mother has been discouraged from entering his room, but on the day Grete moves the furniture, she sees Gregor hanging on the wall. When she sees him, she faints.
