Henri Fagerolles is a child of the streets. He joined the group of radical thinkers led by Claude Lantier and is descirbed as a young man with great ideas about reality. Sadly, he is also willing to compromise with the Beaux-Arts in order to further his career. Henri is notably two faced, making disparaging statements about the establishment all the while struggling to get into it. He does, however, carry a sense of guilt, as he recognizes how much he owes to Claude and the others for their influence. It is also this guilt that leads to him to use his influence to get Claude's painting, The Dead Boy, into the Salon.
