What does Mark do to ensure his potato plants will survive his expedition on Sirius 4?

Mark saturates the ground with most of the water he has so that the plants can survive. Then he deactivates the atmospheric regular so it doesn’t pull water out of the air. This will make it humid enough for water to condense on every surface. He finishes his preparations by venting the CO2 into the Hab.
