What do Rose and Frenchie find?

One day, Rose asks him to hunt mushrooms with her. While they are out, French realizes he is in love with Rose. Rose shouts out in surprise and French rushes to her side. She has found a brook of clear unpolluted water, and saw a fish swimming in it. French listens to the sounds of the running water and remembers the sound that came from a record his uncle played. French feels that everything is going to be alright, because he has Rose to love. He kisses her without knowing that things would soon change again.
