What does Gutman's treatment of Rhea say about his character?

Rhea Gutman appears in the story for the first time and is proof positive Gutman will stop at nothing to gain possession of the falcon. Using Rhea as a ploy to stall Spade shows how reprehensible Gutman is in his quest to further his own wealth.
