Wigner, Szilard and Fermi meet with George Pegram, Associate Professor of physics at Columbia, in his office in New York. The scientists want to tell the U.S. government about their discoveries in neutron physics. Pegram, who knows the Undersecretary of the Navy, calls Washington and gets Fermi an audience with Admiral Hooper, assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations. Fermi goes to the Navy Department and meets for an hour with Hooper and others.
