The author’s style is complex with compound sentences and intellectual vocabulary. The characters range from long in the beginning of the book to short and concise at the end. This makes the book difficult to start and moves quickly near the end. The story is engrossing. The style of the language keeps the reader on the outside of the story for the language does not fit the characters. This is useful for Walter Moody is an outsider who is taken into the confidences of the characters of the story. The reader feels his journey from outsider to community member.
