In "The Lottery" what are some examples of symbolism?

One example of symbolism is that of the lottery, itself. Generally, lotteries are good things....not in this sense. It is literally a sacrifice.

Another example is that of the three legged stool. It is used to support or hold the black box of the lottery. Many have said that the three legs of the stool represent the Holy Trinity (father, son, holy ghost of Christian tradition) and that it shows how even religion is being manipulated and perverted to uphold this tradition.
