What is Satyr/Faun?

A satyr is a creature from Greek mythology that has the body and head of a human and the horns, hooves and legs of a goat. They are nature beings, and so love plants and wildlife. Like goats, they also tend to eat whatever they can get in their mouths. They are protectors by nature, and are often assigned to protect demigods before they come to Camp Half Blood. Satyrs are not immortal, but live longer than humans. They go back to nature when they die, becoming a tree or a flower, for example, in their next life. The Roman name for satyrs is fauns.
