How does the author use foreshadowing in The Lock Artist: A Novel?

When the Higgins Institute decides there is nothing more they can do for Mike, they send him to public school. The summer before the change is implemented, Mike is extremely anxious and begins distracting himself by learning to pick locks. This foreshadows Mike's career path.
