Where does Lucy go when she wanders off in Part Two: Chapter 22? How does Tom find her?

Lucy wanders off, following the Graysmarks' cat, and gets lost in the bush. When Tom finally finds Lucy, she is playing with a nest of scorpions and even has one in her pocket. Tom kills the scorpions and takes Lucy home.
