Who was Agatha's first husband, and what connection did he have to the Mendacity Tree?

Agatha is the widow of Hector Winterbourne, the man who first found the Mendacity Tree. He directed Erasmus to the tree out of desperation when Erasmus misled him into believing that he would aid in Hector's release from jail.
