At the Liar's Club meetings, Pete liked to tell the story of how his father died by hanging, even though his father was still very much alive. Pete used to say that his father climbed to the top of his roof in the hopes of ending his life because he was a long-suffering man who had many problems in his life. While up on the roof, his father slipped, crashed through the roof, and broke his neck.
