What memory of her mother's childhood was the only one Mary kept with her while growing up?

While growing up, Mary was haunted by the image of her mother in a red jacket at the age of two, staring unsmilingly at the camera. Mary heard that her mother was diagnosed with pneumonia as a child and her mother was told that Charlie wouldn't make it through the night.
