How did Mary initially feel about Antelope when she and her family first moved there?

When Mary found out she and her family were moving to Antelope, she was shocked. The landscape of the new town was completely different than anything she was used to. Even though it was beautiful during the day, Mary thought the scenery reminded her of the book Dracula as soon as the sun went down, which started her fascination with vampires. Mary even started a vampires club, of which she was the only member.
