Is the narrator in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving a reliable or unreliable narrator?

Diedrich Knickerbocker, the narrator, would be considered an unreliable narrator because he is telling a story he's heard from someone else. In fact, Knickbocker actually adds a disclaimer at the end of the story but advises the reader to think of it as true.
