Why is the salesman never allowed back in the girl's home in the poem, Not For Sale from the collection, The Latin Deli?

The salesman is banned from the girl's home because when he was there, he tried to purchase her as a wife for his son. The girl's father was outraged and shouted "not for sale!" before kicking the salesman out of the house.
