Who is Emeth from The Last Battle and what is their importance?

Emeth is a Calormene soldier. He insists upon entering the Stable, where he must fight for his life. He meets Aslan towards the end of the book, even though he thought he was being faithful to Tash. Tash takes the evil, and Aslan takes the good.
