Who is Guildeluec from The Lais of Marie de France and what is their importance?

Guildeleuc appears in Eliduc. He is Eliduc's wife, who is greatly wronged, but nonetheless makes a sacrifice for the happiness of her husband by becoming a nun and allowing him to stay with Guilliadun.
