Women are unable to express their femininity outside the forms that men have created for them. They can never be themselves; they can only be women in a man's world. That view of women shows that they are an entity unto themselves. They are not feminine in contrast to masculinity; but feminine in their own right. Their femininity is something absolute, and thus that idea lays the foundation for Paz's arguments about love.
