The Aztec nation was able to unify many diverse tribes because of the years, perhaps decades of fighting that had taken place among the tribes. When the Aztecs descended into the Valley of Mexico, they were easily able to overcome the people living there. Thus the Aztecs showed remarkable skills in conquering people. Rather than overriding or obliterating the cultures of the people whom they had conquered, they synthesized them into a new whole. The Aztec nation was made up of many and diverse parts, all unified under one head. In that manner they were more adept than either the Spaniards or the modern Mexicans.
