Mexico could not have progressed as far as she has today within the bounds of capitalism. The revolutionary state served to redistribute the land and wipe out many forms of feudalism. The nation first had to reach some sort of equilibrium among her people, which the Revolution did. It took land, power, and money from the wealthy; and distributed it more fairly among the citizens. It created communal plots of land for example, which belonged to particular families. That was not the case under the old regime, and it would not have happened under capitalism. Thus, the Socialist Revolution provided advantages for many people who otherwise did not have them, and it opened the door for a capitalist society.
