The modern view of death concedes that death is merely a creature's last biological act. In fact, it is better not to think about death and to live as though life will never end. Hygiene, contraceptives, and synthetic foods all help man to stave off death a little longer. That is dramatically different from the Aztec view, that held that death was another step in the cycle of regeneration. New life was not possible unless death had occurred.
