Paz explains Mexico's new phase of thinking and history by tying Mexico to the rest of the world in ways that she has never been connected before. Mexico's Revolution propelled her to the forefront of world history. Her socialist struggle equaled that of much of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. Additionally, Paz ties Mexico to other Latin American countries, some of which are only beginning to awaken. Mexico must connect with her neighbors, and by example, lead them into the Modern Age. That new phase of history connects Mexico to other nations; and as Paz hopes, will promote her entrance into world politics more than any political system or governor could ever do.
