Who is Amir from The Kite Runner and what is their importance?

Amir is our narrator and protagonist in the story. Amir is sensitive boy from a wealthy family. The defining moment of his life comes from his failure and betrayal of his closest friend, Hassan. Hassan spends much of his life with this guilt.
