What is the theme in The Kingdom of Matthias by Paul E. Johnson?

Implicit (and sometimes explicit) in Matthews' bizarre theology is a hostility towards women. The authors trace the foundation of this sentiment to Matthews' upbringing in a strict Scottish Calvinist community.
