How does the author use foreshadowing in The King Must Die?

The author's language can be extensive, and it leaves the reader with a very long description of things at times. The author also uses foreshadowing with her phrases to give the reader a view of what will be happening in the coming chapters. Young Theseus sees the horse king killed for the gods and it makes a definite impression on him. Throughout the rest of the story this will be referred back to as a measuring point for Theseus especially when he is taken to the land of Crete.
