How is the camp of the tribal cult followers described in Chapter 23?

Mark and Alec approach a dark part of the woods where they find a large fire, and five or six people dancing around it, singing. About a dozen others are looking on and singing. But the people see Mark and Alec, and invite them to participate. Alex declines, and someone else tells them to join in.
