How do Mark and Alec manage to find Deedee and Trina in Chapter 56? How are Deedee and Trina described when they are rescued?

The people charge Alec and Mark, who fight them off. They fight their way through the house. They find Trina and Deedee in the basement, bruised and battered. Deedee is crying, and says that Trina is sick. When Mark tries to get Trina to talk, she asks him who he is.
