Explain jing Mai's relationship with her mom

Jing-mei has a turbulent relationship with her mother. She sees Suyuan as a stereotypical mom who criticizes her whenever she asserts her independence. Jing-mei feels everything she does is not good enough for mother. She feels that she cannot meet her mother’s high expectations.
