The romantic story of Heloise and Abelard is given a large section in Chapter 15. The entire chapter is nearly taken up by the story, despite the focus given to a cemetery. Why do you think Twain chose to include this story?

France is well known for being one of the most romantic countries in the world. Twain's descriptions to this point have given no indication that he considers France to be even a tiny bit romantic. Perhaps this is Twain's way of returning the reader's focus to France as a place of romance and legend.
