How does Lauren's apartment change over the course of the story in the book, The Husbands: A Novel?

Each time a new husband appears, Lauren notices that all of her furniture, decor, and belongings are out of place. With each new husband, the flat shifts slightly, making room for Lauren's alternate reality with her alternate husband. At the end of the novel, Lauren decides to burn the flat down so as to end her husband cycle and to choose happiness with Sam.
